Warmer temperatures during this fall/winter seem to be changing there life cycle.

Observation: While collecting samples for another project I noticed that a red elderberry bush looked like it was getting new leafs. Our fall/winter has been warmer than usual, which, seems to be confusing some of the trees and bushes here in Southeast, Alaska.

Cooperative Extension Service Consult: That is really interesting. I have also heard from others in Southeast Alaska that some flowers grown from bulbs are blooming out of season too. Observing individual plants like this elderberry and reporting back what happens as winter progresses and spring returns will help determine if any long term changes plant health may be occurring.
