Scientists aboard a U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker have discovered an unusual volcano-like structure in the Arctic Ocean, potentially emitting gas and rising 500 meters from the seafloor.

The Orca Conservancy said the sightings made history. Some whale watchers hope it will again raise awareness of the need to protect them.

Snow arrived at Mount Fuji more than a month after it normally would, after setting a record for the most-delayed snowfall in 130 years.
