Concerned about algae in Cheney Lake

Over the last several weeks the algae bloom has ranged from significant covering the surface of the lake in many places to today seeing patches of the bloom here and there on the surface. It can also be observed below the surface near the shoreline. After reading an observation event about this in 2019, I emailed one of the consultants in that article to see if any work is being done on this as it appears as though the bloom is caused by excessive runoff from dogs, waterfowl, other animals creating high nitrogen levels…..I am also concerned if policies and practices to eliminate contamination are not initiated that Anchorage residents may not be able to enjoy this beautiful community park.The photos taken in 2019 show the expanse of the bloom across the lake as well as microscopic photos; whereas, my photos taken today are close ups near the shoreline.
