Unidentified spider in Anchorage

Observation by Andrew Willman:

I saw this spider above us while sitting outside of a restaurant in Anchorage. I can’t identify it. Can someone identify it?

Probably the genus Araneus but I've emailed a spider expert who should know.There are lots of orbweaver species in Alaska and this is probably one of them.

It's in the genus Araneus. However, from the angle of the photo I am not able to tell the species.
