Coastal Erosion

Observation: The storm from the weekend of Christmas had eroded the face of the sea wall. During the summer, erosion issues were/are over looked at times. I've noticed as well the cracks leading to the slanted part of the "Ironwood" and concerned about more possible damage. The seawall was built in the mid 1980's and had been serving Togiak for many years against fall weather extremes and storm surges. Climate change is effecting our way of life and adapting might be part of life to keep our practices and traditions alive. Without the protection of this awesome ironwood material, Togiak would be washed away. A possible adaptation is insuring that our village is safe from future flood and/or storm surges. Just wondering who will be helping Togiak solve this issue..." Brian Abraham
